EOE 8 Kamp Kiwanis

As camp is just a few days away (3 more sleeps!!), I wanted to touch base and remind you of a few details!

We are leaving at 9:00am Thursday.  I am asking that students be dropped off by 8:30am and to bring their stuff into the Main Gym so that we can make sure everyone is there, take attendance and ensure that everyone is prepared.  We will be back by 2:00pm Friday.  Please make sure that your children have a ride arranged and at the school by 2:00.  We will be able to get back into the building to get any homework they may have forgotten, use the bathroom or phone.

Students are asked to bring a bag lunch that they can eat in the forest, as we will be getting there and going on activities right away.  Ensure that they do not require a microwave and please do not send any nuts as we have a few students with allergies on the trip.

Please make sure that students are prepared for the weather.  Pack lots of layers, boots, mittens, toques, sunscreen, etc. Please refer to the packing list that was sent home if you need some ideas.  Remember, we are asking that students leave all  electronics at home (however, cameras are welcome).

Students who are on medications are required to bring them in a ziplock bag labeled with their name, and the instructions on dosage and time to be taken. Students with allergies are required to have an epi-pen on them at all times.  Students with asthma are required to carry their inhaler with them at all times.

If you have any questions, do not hesitate to email me at mbsimpson@cbe.ab.ca!

Thank you for supporting the Outdoor Education Program at Elboya! I hope the kids are as excited as I am!

NEXT WEEK:

On April 21, 2016, students in EOE 8 will have an opportunity to go wall-climbing.  Forms went home on Friday and are due back NO LATER THAN MONDAY April 18.  We are still in need of a volunteer.  If you are able to help out, please contact Mrs. Simpson at mbsimpson@cbe.ab.ca.

EOE 7 Feb 16th - 20th

This week will continue to review daypacks and what we should bring to ensure success and safety in the backcountry, learn about safety on ski hills for our upcoming ski trip to Nakiska, and begin to talk about appropriate clothing.  What materials are good and bad to use, layering systems, and and more.

EOE 9

On Wednesday we will review all safety concerns and expectations for our snowshoeing field trip to Hogarth Lakes.  I was out there this weekend and it is beautiful.

Students and parents can expect the next field trip form for our upcoming ski trip to Nakiska to come home this week.
