EOE 8 December 16th - 19th

Students will finish their presentations on their Leave No Trace Projects. Once done, they will spend time organising their Duo-Tangs and assignments prior to the break.  If there is time and the weather cooperates, we will take out the set of snowshoes and have some winter fun!

EOE 8 December 9 - December 13, 2019

On Monday, students will be working on a variety of team building and communication activities. 

Students are reminded that we will continue with presentations this Wednesday and Friday in class.  If students are leaving early for holidays, it is their responsibility to arrange a time with Mrs Hunchak to present before they leave. 

Students are also reminded that Mrs Hunchak's FIRM deadline for any missing assignments is Monday December 16th to provide time to mark and return them prior to Mrs Hunchak leaving for Maternity Leave.

Monday - Leave No Trace Project (Information can be found on D2L if you have misplaced it).
Wednesday - Due to the Field Trip students left behind will combine with the other options that day.
Friday - Leave No Trace Project (Due Wednesday December 4th)

Grade 8 EOE November 18 - 22, 2019

Students will be working on a Leave No Trace project to demonstrate their understanding of the impact we can have on the environment when participating in outdoor pursuits.  Information can be found on D2L.

Fish Creek Park - November 7th

Students had a great time learning about the different species of plants and animals found in the park from our very own tour guide Roland!

 They also were able to have fun completing an Orienteering course within the park that took them to some of the most picturesque parts of the park!  





Grade 8 EOE: November 12 -15, 2019

We will be wrapping up our Orienteering Unit and Debriefing from our Field Trip to Fish Creek Provincial Park.

We will also begin our work on understanding the Leave No Trace Principles for how to participate responsibly in the outdoors.

Grade 8 EOE: November 4 - November 8

Students should be prepared to be outside this week!

Monday: We will be working on using our compasses to chart our course on a map of the school yard!

Wednesday:  We will be going through a map of the location of our field trip this week, ensuring we know how to read it, and get familiar with the pathways.

Thursday:  Students should be dressed for the weather and be prepared to be outside all day.  Students are also reminded to pack a large lunch, as there is not anywhere to buy food.

Grade 8 EOE October 28 - October 31

Grade 8 EOE students have been getting some on-hands experience with Orienteering around the school yard.  We will continue to practise our skills this week in preparation for the field trip to Fish Creek Park on November 7, 2019!

REMINDER:
- Mountain Biking Mind Map assignment was due Monday, October 20th!  Get it in to Mrs. Hunchak as soon as possible!!

- Fish Creek Park Field Trip Forms are due to Mrs. Hunchak by October 31, 2019!  Please get them to her as soon as possible and pay the fee online!  If you have any questions, please contact Mrs. Hunchak at mbhunchak@cbe.ab.ca.

Grade 8 EOE October 14 - 18, 2019

Grade 8 Students have been working hard on their Mountain Biking Mind Maps.  They are demonstrating their knowledge of how to prepare for a Mountain Biking Trip, identifying possible hazards on the hill, what they might need to bring on a trip and different signs they will see on a trail. 

Students have already had 2 classes to work on it, and will have this week's class to work on it. This assignment is posted on D2L and will be due Monday October 21, 2019. 

Tuesday 1 October 2019

Grade 8 EOE

Students have completed lessons on "Dressing appropriately for the Weather".  They have learned the different fabrics which function best for the different layering systems of clothing.

Students are currently working on the Mountain Biking unit.  They have finished a worksheet on how to fit a bike, differences between road and mountain bikes, and the different parts of a bike.  This assignment is due Friday, October 4th.  

They will now be looking at various topics needed to be considered when planning a mountain biking trip.  These include items needed for a mountain biking trip, safety considerations, and signs on the trail.

EOE 8- February 4-8, 2019

Welcome to Term 2 EOE!  

I am excited to be working with you!  This course will be a mix of hands on activities and projects that cover a variety of different outdoor pursuits. We have a couple of exciting trips planned this semester!  See you in Room 27 on Tuesday!
