EOE 9

September 29th, 2016

Recently, students have been working through day trip planning.  What might be items that are helpful to pack and how to prepare for properly.  For each unit we work through, we will try to identify a common injury and how to do basic first aid for it.  For our day trip planning, we have been working through how to tape a rolled ankle.  Below is a link to an excellent video on how to tape an ankle.  Remember, we are not doing continuous figure 8 to heel locks.  Continue to watch the end of the video where it shows how to do them separately.

Students are asked to bring a bag lunch that they can eat in the forest, as we will be getting there and going on activities right away.  Ensure that they do not require a microwave and please do not send any nuts as we have a few students with allergies on the trip.

Please make sure that students are prepared for the weather.  Pack lots of layers, boots, mittens, toques, sunscreen, etc. Please refer to the packing list that was sent home if you need some ideas.  Remember, we are asking that students leave all  electronics at home (however, cameras are welcome).

Students with allergies are required to have an epi-pen on them at all times.  Students with asthma are required to carry their inhaler with them at all times.
